RUMSL Invites Bids for the Development of a 300 MW Floating Solar Project in Madhya Pradesh

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited has floated a tender, inviting bids for the development of 300 MW floating solar projects at Madhya Pradesh’s Omkareshwar reservoir. The last date to submit the bid is 26th September 2022. The bids will open on 27th September 2022.

The RUMSL is a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam (MPUVN).

The Omkareshwar solar park boasts a solar generation capacity of 600 MW in total and is being developed in 2 phases. Each phase will have three independent units of 100 MW. All 6 solar units would be grid connected. The recent proposal is for the development of Phase 2 (3 X 100MW) with Units A, B, and C respectively.

Here are the bid details:
  • The minimum quantity a bidder can bid for each unit is 90 MW.
  • Bid security of ₹9 crores must be presented for 1 unit and ₹18 crores for more than one unit.
  • Bidders should have a net worth of ₹900 million if they are seeking to develop 1 unit and ₹1.8 billion for more than 1 unit.
  • For a consortium, the financial capacity can be met individually or collectively by all members. Though, the chief member should display at least 51% of the qualifying capacity.

The energy generated will be purchased by the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company (MPPMCL), under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The PPA signed by the company would be valid for a period of 25 years.

Moreover, the RUMCL will establish the power evacuation infrastructure for the project.

The Letter of Acceptance of Tender (LOA) for Phase 1 of one of the largest floating solar power projects was awarded to Amp Energy, NHDC, and SJVN.
