As per a report published in Economics Times, SECI is thinking to reduce the tender size and the location.
Previously the project size was 2500 MW which is now reducing to 1800 MW. Not only that, but the location is also in the process to be shifting. The previous plant location was the Koppal district of Karnataka, but now SECI has identified 3 different spots in Karnataka.
Solar Energy Corporation of India is a nodal agency and The Ministry of Renewable Energy, India conducts all of its auctions via SECI.
SECI has had second thoughts about Koppal, the cost of setting up projects there would be so high that DISCOMS would not be interested to buy it.
According to a report, a 2500 MW tender issued on April 10, 2020, but till now it has extended the deadline of the bid submissions 6 times.
About this change of plan, the Chief Minister of Karnataka has been notified, now SECI is waiting for their approval to move ahead with the other locations for this project.
