The Challenge
Established in 2006, Pangaea Natural Stone is a Canada-based natural stone manufacturing company. The organization manufactures high-quality stone veneers for the building industry while ethically sourcing materials and using state-of-the-art recycling and waste management.
As the company operated heavy machinery, its operational costs were high. In an effort to reduce these expenses, the company looked into solar options for their upcoming manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. However, Mr. Sanjay Nikhanj, President of Pangaea Natural Stone, was insistent on avoiding any potential leakage issues. His vision was to have an open-plan warehouse that remained completely waterproof while operating on clean, renewable energy.
Pangaea sought an efficient system that aligned perfectly with its sustainability objectives.
The Result
Ornate Solar deployed a 528kW InRoof for Pangaea Natural Stone. The structure uses the best technology, including high-efficiency solar panels and advanced Microinverters for the best PV performance. Additionally, the team used precision-engineered structural components to build walkways and ridge profiles that interlock seamlessly with the PV panels. This ensures 100% guarantee against water leakage.
This waterproofing was put to the test during three consecutive days of relentless heavy rainfall, which the InRoof confidently withstood without a single drop of water permeating through.
Layout
The Pangaea Stone InRoof is an open Pre-engineered building (PEB) structure that turns solar panels into the primary roof. It seamlessly integrates the company’s multiple sloped roofs. The unique sustainable roof covers a 35,000 sq. ft. area and is installed at a height of 12 meters (40ft).
Energy Generation
On the sunny day of 3rd May, the solar plant generated 3.03 MWh of solar power, which is 915Kwh more than average.
Monthly Generation (May):
During the month of May, InRoof generated an impressive 76.9 MWh of clean energy, effectively offsetting approximately 54.9 tons of carbon emissions from the atmosphere. Notably, InRoof continued to produce power even on cloudy days, specifically on May 14th, 24th, and 26th.

High Efficiency
InRoof is a roof made of solar panels that eliminates the need for sheet/metal roofing. There is ample space for airflow underneath the panels due to which they remain cooler. This factor, along with other attributes, leads to an efficiency gain of nearly 8-10%.
Waterproof Solution
InRoof is equipped with a double layer of protection. The fully mechanical top cover repels water and prevents it from seeping through. The second layer is an advanced MG shield which expands and contracts as per weather conditions.
