Bihar took a significant step towards renewable energy by commissioning a new 50 MW solar power plant in Banka district, boosting its total solar capacity to 181.1 MW.
This development represents a significant stride in the state’s effort to strengthen its green energy portfolio.
Sanjeev Hans, the principal secretary of the energy department and CMD of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL) extended congratulations to the Avaada Group for the successful commissioning of the solar unit.
Hans asked the power officials to identify additional locations for setting up solar units across the state. The Avaada Group also presented a progress report on their other solar projects in the Banka district.
Sanjeev Hans highlighted the urgency in accelerating renewable energy generation to align with India’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 and generating 50% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
