Uttar Pradesh's Solar Capacity is continously expanding

India has reached a historic milestone by achieving 100 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) — a dramatic leap from just 2.3 GW in 2014. This achievement cements India’s position as a global renewable energy leader and marks a major step toward its Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance) vision.

This surge has been painstakingly enabled by transformational policy support, especially the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for high-efficiency solar modules and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for self-reliance. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi lauded the milestone, stating it reinforces India’s path toward Atmanirbhar Bharat and its target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

The numbers behind the achievement speak volumes: when ALMM was first issued, just 8.2 GW of modules were enlisted in March 2021. In just four years, this has multiplied over twelvefold. Moreover, the number of ALMM-listed manufacturers has surged from 21 in 2021 to 100, operating across 123 manufacturing units. This expansive, vertically integrated ecosystem enhances India’s capability to meet both domestic demand and global market share.
