Rajasthan’s Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner is set to become a landmark in India’s renewable energy sector. The project combines 2,450 MW of solar capacity with a 5,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), spread over 4,353 hectares of government-leased land. This hybrid setup ensures round-the-clock energy supply, tackling solar intermittency.
The park is expected to attract ₹18,000 crore in investments and generate significant employment opportunities. Officials emphasize that this solar-plus-storage integration will strengthen grid stability and provide reliable energy even during peak demand hours.
Rajasthan’s high solar irradiance and vast flat terrain make it ideal for large-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. The Pugal Solar Park is being developed under the Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Ltd (subsidiary of RRECL) and is positioned as a model for future hybrid renewable projects across India.
Once operational, the park will set a benchmark for sustainable and reliable power generation, supporting both state and national clean energy goals. This initiative underlines how storage-ready solar parks can unlock firm, dispatchable renewable energy for the grid.
