State-owned power producer NTPC Ltd. has commissioned approximately 360 MW of new solar capacity across key renewable energy hubs in Gujarat and Rajasthan, further strengthening its clean energy portfolio. The projects were declared commercially operational on December 17–18, 2025, marking another milestone in India’s renewable growth story.
The capacity additions comprise 243.66 MW from the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project and 37.925 MW from the Khavda Solar Energy Project under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche-V initiative in Gujarat, along with 78 MW from the Nokh Sokar Solar PV Project in Rajasthan. These solar projects incorporate high-efficiency photovoltaic modules aligned with global performance standards and are expected to contribute significantly to scalable clean power generation across the region.
With this latest addition, NTPC’s total installed and commercial capacity has crossed 85.5 GW, a testament to the company’s accelerated push toward a sustainable energy mix. NTPC currently contributes roughly one-quarter of India’s total power generation and has an additional 30.90 GW of capacity under construction, including 13.3 GW from renewable sources. The company has also set an ambitious target to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, aligning with India’s broader net-zero and clean energy objectives.
Officials highlight that these solar projects will help reduce carbon footprints, support energy security, and diversify NTPC’s generation portfolio. As India ramps up solar deployment across states like Gujarat and Rajasthan, developers and EPC partners are increasingly focusing on high-quality components and efficient project execution strategies to meet rising demand.
