Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd. (HCG), has commissioned a 2.25MW solar project in Karnataka’s Jagaluru Village, located in the Davangere district. HCG, a hospital chain, is one of the best cancer care providers in India, with 24 cancer centres across India and Africa.
The details of the plant are as follows:
- The project is spread across an area of 7.2 acres.
- The plant will generate approximately 1040 lakh (104 million) units in 25 years and cut down 76,200 metric tons of carbon emissions in that period.
- It will help HCG save up to ₹4.2 crores every year.
- The project was implemented by Mumbai-based renewable energy company, CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions (Pvt) Ltd.
HCG has said that this is Phase 1 of the solar initiative. The energy generated would be employed by HCG’s flagship centre in Bengaluru, KR Road and HCG Suchirayu Hospital, Hubli. The solar project is expected to bring down the energy expenditure of the two hospitals by 70%.
Moreover, as part of Phase 2, the hospital chain is planning to implement the initiative across all its centres.
“Maintaining our planet’s ecosystems is imperative for creating a healthier world for the coming generations, and what better sector than healthcare to recognize the criticality of this need! HCG is happy to steer this landmark solar-powered sustainability initiative across our network which will undoubtedly make a lasting contribution to our healthcare sustainability goals and objectives” states Mr. B S Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman of HCG.
