International Solar Alliance
The World Mega Solar Plan: One Sun, One World, One Grid is the largest solar project on a global scale, being implemented by The International Solar Alliance.
The idea of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) was given by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi during the 21st session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The conference was being held in Paris on 30 November 2015. In which this launch was announced by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, & Former Honorable President of France, Mr. Francois.
The International Solar Alliance is made up of 121 countries. Most of these countries are sunshine countries, as all countries are fully or partially located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. This means that they receive a good amount of solar radiation throughout the year. The International Solar Alliance will work in the solar sector through the cooperation of all these countries.
The focus behind ISA is not to mimic the programs started by other organizations like IRENA, REEEP, IEA, REN21, but to collaborate and help them develop their projects, and take the solar industry to new heights. Have to go
The headquarter of the ISA is located in Gurugram. And its interim secretariat is the National Institute of Solar Energy.
Objectives of International Solar Alliance (ISA):
The International Solar Alliance was established with some basic objectives in mind. Under which the whole world had to provide electricity through a grid. Its objectives are:
- To explore the common challenges of the energy sector and to work on them collectively and create solar energy applications.
- To raise more than the US $ 1000 billion by 2030.
- Release of programs and activities to promote solar finance, solar technology, innovation, etc.
- Increase rates for solar applications in ISA member countries.
- To provide support on R&D in solar energy.
Program of International Solar Alliance (ISA):
Connecting the entire world through a grid is nothing short of a dream, which the OSOWOG plan was brought to realize. Similarly, to fulfill other objectives successfully, some other programs have also been introduced, which are as follows:
- Implement solar application rates of agricultural use in member countries.
- Affordable Financing for Solar Energy
- Promote Mini-Grid
- Scaling Solar Rooftops
- Development and scaling of e-mobility and storage
- Develop and promote solar parks.
The International Solar Alliance is going to play a very important role in global economic development. Currently, ISA is the only viable option available to reach the goal of a Sustainable Future.
