The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) revealed on November 10, 2025, that 97% of work is complete for the 60 MW solar power project at Jalud-Samraj and Asukhedi villages in Madhya Pradesh. The plant, covering 210 acres, is divided into two core locations — 48 MW in Samraj and 12 MW in Asukhedi — and is built with approximately 1.23 lakh solar modules and 21 inverters.
When fully commissioned, the plant is expected to reduce the IMC’s monthly electricity bill by ₹3–4 crore and save nearly 80 lakh units of power each month, the Mayor said during his inspection. The project also aims to support Indore’s ambition of becoming an energy self-reliant city with large-scale solar capacity integrated into its municipal infrastructure.
Officials believe that this solar capacity will be used to power municipal services and reduce dependence on grid-supplied conventional electricity. As work nears completion, the IMC has directed relevant departments to expedite testing and commissioning so the plant can go fully online in early 2026. The milestone underlines how utility-scale solar capacity projects are advancing in India’s cities and municipalities.
