Adani Green Energy Signs a Contract With India's Solar Energy Corporation to Supply 4,667 Megawatts of Renewable Energy

Adani Green Energy (AGEL), the renewable energy branch of the Adani Group, has agreed to supply 4667 Mw of green energy to the state-run Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

This is the world’s largest evergreen power purchase deal, according to a corporate statement (PPA).

“This is yet another milestone in our path to enabling India’s dual goal of increasing its renewable energy footprint while also promoting local manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative,” stated Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.

Following the proceedings of COP 26, he said that it is becoming increasingly clear that the world needs to shift to a low-carbon economy more quickly than previously envisaged.

This is why Adani Group has committed $50-$70 billion in renewable energy projects. This deal maintains us on schedule to achieve our goal of becoming the world’s largest renewable energy company by 2030,” Adani stated.

The deal between Adani Green Energy and the Solar Energy Corporation of India to deliver 4,667 megawatts is part of a manufacturing-linked solar tender worth 8,000 megawatts issued to AGEL by SECI in June 2020, which set a record for the world’s largest solar development tender ever awarded.

So far, Adani Green Energy has secured PPAs with Solar Energy Corporation of India for over 6,000 Mw of the 8,000 Mw awarded in 2020. In the following two to three months, Adani Green Energy plans to complete the remaining of the 2,000 Mw PPA.
