Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, laid the foundation for a 750 MW solar project in Kadapa and a 100 MW solar plant in Anantapur on Tuesday, 28th November. He also inaugurated 12 AP-Transco substations and announced the implementation of 16 more in the state.

The projects will be implemented with a total investment of ₹6,600 crore. Solar power initiatives, accounting for ₹3,700 crore of the investment, will be established at the Kadapa and Anantapur solar parks, generating employment opportunities for 1,700 individuals.

The Andhra government has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to develop wind and solar energy plants with 500 MW capacity each, and a 250 MW pumped storage plant at an investment of ₹10,000 crore

These projects are expected to generate employment opportunities for over 1500 individuals.

Additionally, CM Reddy also laid the foundation stone for enhancing the production capacity of an EV manufacturing unit.

The energy transition efforts of Andhra Pradesh have gained momentum in recent years. The state government has also signed an agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Under the same, SECI will produce 17,000 million units of solar power in the state and supply 13,000 million units of power to the agricultural sector at a reduced tariff.

Chief Minister states that SECI will provide 3GW of solar power by September 2024, another 3 GW by September 2025, and finally 1 GW by September 2026.
