Assam has set an ambitious target of achieving 11.7 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 with its new Assam Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy 2025. This policy focuses on solar, wind, and hydropower. This goal will help reduce the state’s carbon footprint and contribute to India’s sustainable energy future.
The policy emphasizes building a strong clean energy manufacturing ecosystem, with targets of 2,000 MWh of battery capacity, 2,000 EV charging stations, and 2,000 KTPA for green hydrogen production by 2030. The government will support these goals by offering long-term land leases, including up to 45 years for hydropower projects.
Assam will waive intrastate transmission charges for 20 years and offer long-term land leases to developers. The policy offers key incentives to attract private investment by supporting solar, decentralized, and captive projects. It also ensures easy transmission connectivity, simplifying the setup of clean energy projects.
Assam’s ICE Policy 2025 provides a clear roadmap for transforming the state’s energy landscape. By promoting green energy technologies and infrastructure, the policy positions Assam to meet future energy demands sustainably while fostering economic growth and environmental resilience.
