Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta revealed that the Assembly will soon operate entirely on solar power. A 500 KW solar energy system, including panels and a power plant, will be installed over the next 100 days, helping save ₹15 lakh in monthly electricity bills.
Currently, the Assembly has two 100 KW solar power plants, but with an energy requirement of around 600 KW, the existing capacity is insufficient. The new system will expand the capacity, enabling the Assembly to meet its entire energy demand through solar power.
The solar plants will be installed on the rooftops and open spaces of the Assembly complex. This move is a significant step toward sustainability and reducing energy costs, supporting the city’s push for renewable energy solutions.
