The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has taken a major leap towards sustainability by commissioning a 2 MW solar park on its campus, marking a pivotal step in India’s transition to clean and self-reliant energy.
Commissioned in October 2025, the solar park is designed to make IIM Nagpur’s 132-acre campus completely energy self-sufficient, generating nearly 3.5 million units (kWh) of clean electricity annually. This will offset approximately 2,800 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, aligning with India’s net-zero targets for 2070.
The installation comprises high-efficiency mono-PERC solar panels and string inverters that ensure optimal energy yield under varying weather conditions. The project not only meets the institute’s full power demand but also supports energy-efficient operations such as smart lighting and electric mobility within the campus.
IIM Nagpur’s Director emphasized that the initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to green innovation and carbon neutrality, inspiring other academic institutions to adopt similar models. The solar park also serves as a live learning lab for students pursuing research in renewable energy and sustainable management.
