During poll-bound Kerala via video conference, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of some important projects in the power and urban sector, saying that in 6 years, India’s solar energy capacity is 13 times bigger.
Giving importance to solar energy, Prime Minister Modi said, India is giving great importance to solar energy as a strong step against this climate change problem. At the same time, the farmers of the country are also connecting with the field of solar.
Confirming this, he said that the capacity of India’s solar sector has increased 13 times in the last 6 years, which is a good figure to see the progress of this sector in the country.
PM Modi further said, “India is devoting great importance to solar energy. Our gains in solar energy ensure A stronger fight against climate change. A boost to our entrepreneurs.”
“Work is also underway to connect our hardworking farmers with the solar sector – make our Annadatas (farmers) also Urjadatas.”
Talking about The International Solar Alliance, he said, India has connected all the countries of the world through this initiative.
focusing on the cities wastewater treatment infrastructure, Modi said, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) will improve urban infrastructure.
Earlier, the prime minister dedicated to the nation the 320 KV Pugalur-Thrissur power transmission project, built at Rs 5,070 crore, to facilitate the transfer of power from the western region and help meet the growth in load in Kerala.
The projects inaugurated included the 50 MW Kasaragod Solar Power Project, developed under the National Solar Energy Mission, and the much-awaited 75 MLD (million liters per day) Water Treatment Plant at Aruvikkara near here under the AMRUT Mission.
Built at Rs 5,070 crore, the Pugalur (Tamil Nadu)-Thrissur (Kerala) power transmission project is a Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Project and has India’s first HVDC link featuring state-of-the-art VSC technology.
