On November 21, 2025, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deploy rooftop solar systems on MEA-managed buildings nationwide. The pact was announced in New Delhi and is aligned with India’s clean energy goals under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Under this agreement, SECI will act as the implementing agency, overseeing the design, installation, and grid-connection of grid-connected rooftop solar PV power plants on government-owned diplomatic and administrative buildings. The move is expected to significantly reduce electricity bills for MEA properties while boosting the country’s renewable energy footprint

The MoU was signed by Shri Anand Prakash, Director (Establishment) at MEA, and Shri Manas Ranjan Mishra, Deputy General Manager (Solar) at SECI, reflecting high-level commitment from both sides. Officials have underlined the importance of this pact as a model for sustainable government infrastructure, enabling energy savings, carbon reduction, and enhanced self-reliance.

This initiative could pave the way for broader solar adoption in other government agencies, too, leveraging unused rooftop space for clean, distributed energy generation. OrnateSolar is well-positioned to support this transition, offering turnkey rooftop solar solutions—including system design, installation, and maintenance—to public sector clients looking to go green.
