PM Narendra Modi is all set to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate solar and power transmission projects worth ₹7,400 crore in Rajasthan. The inauguration, poised to take place on 16th Feb 2024, marks a significant step towards enhancing the state’s renewable energy capacity.
The prime minister will lay the foundation stone for the 300 MW NLCIL Barsingsar Solar Project. The solar plant is being set up near Barsingsar Thermal Power Station in the Bikaner District of Rajasthan and will use high-efficiency bifacial modules manufactured in India. The massive project will generate 750 million units of clean energy annually and offset 18,000 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide in its lifetime.
Moreover, PM Modi will also dedicate the 300 MW Nokhra Solar PV Project, developed by NTPC Green Energy Limited, to the nation. Together these two solar projects, located in Bikaner, are being set up at an investment of ₹5300 crore.
Apart from these, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate several power transmission projects worth more than ₹2100 crore today. These will evacuate power from different solar energy zones and transmit it across the state.
The projects include the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for solar energy zones (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part A and B1, and the Transmission System for providing connectivity to renewable energy projects at Bikaner, Fatehgarh-II, and Bhadla–II.
These projects together aim to elevate Rajasthan’s clean energy capacity, reduce carbon emissions, and boost economic growth.
