Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has approved the allocation of land for four solar projects, which will collectively generate 3,000 MW of power, contributing significantly to Rajasthan’s goal of becoming self-sufficient in power generation.
The Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company received 4,780 hectares of land to develop three solar parks with a total capacity of 2,450 MW in the Bikaner district, including two parks of 1,000 MW each and one park of 450 MW.
Additionally, 910 hectares of land have been allocated to NTPC Renewable Energy Limited to set up a 500 MW solar project in the Phalodi district.
The CM highlighted that these solar projects will enhance the state’s energy self-reliance. “These projects will generate local employment opportunities and impart new impetus to economic activities in the region with easy access and sufficient power supply,” he said.
Highlighting the environmental benefits, Sharma noted that these projects will reduce annual carbon emissions by approximately 200,000 tonnes.
“These solar parks will employ cutting-edge solar panels and advanced grid technology to augment energy production capacity. They are anticipated to attract investments of around Rs 10,000 crore,” Sharma added.
The projects are scheduled to be completed within two years, with the government providing a 33% subsidy. An official from the CMO stated that a dedicated committee will monitor progress and address any development hurdles promptly, reporting to the CMO regularly.
