The iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan complex in New Delhi is set to become significantly more sustainable with the installation of a 1 MW solar rooftop project under the RESCO model of the RTSPV Tranche‑III initiative, announced in 2025. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) awarded the project to Ahmedabad‑based GRE Renew Enertech, which will handle the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of the system.
This solar rooftop installation will span multiple buildings within the presidential estate and is expected to reduce dependence on conventional power, lowering electricity costs and carbon emissions for one of India’s most important public infrastructures. The scope of work includes complete system erection, testing, commissioning, and 25 years of operations & maintenance services — ensuring long‑term performance and reliability.
The project was bid out in September 2025 through SECI, with qualified bidders participating in a competitive process under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model. GRE Renew Enertech’s award of this prestigious contract highlights the growing role of Indian solar firms in large‑scale rooftop deployments and the broader push toward clean energy adoption across government buildings and heritage sites.
With India accelerating its solar power push — including ambitious rooftop solar targets under national schemes — the Rashtrapati Bhavan project stands as a symbolic and practical step toward sustainable public infrastructure. OrnateSolar continues to support organisations and institutions seeking customised solar rooftop solutions, from planning and execution to subsidy integration and long‑term performance.
