Official data shows 300,654 installations completed from a total of 983,915 applications, adding a substantial 1,038.27 MW of solar capacity across urban and rural areas of the state.
This surge in solar installations reflects the success of state policies and central-government schemes like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which have incentivised rooftop and distributed solar adoption through subsidies and streamlined processes. Experts say this rapid growth is helping bring clean, affordable electricity to thousands of households, reduce dependence on conventional power, and advance energy self-sufficiency for UP.
Officials believe the expanded solar footprint will strengthen grid resilience, especially during peak demand periods — while also offering long-term environmental benefits. The achievement positions Uttar Pradesh among the top solar-performing states in India, trailing only the leading solar states.
