Solar Installations at Singareni Collieries have Surpassed 200 MW, Intending to Reach 300 MW By The End of Year

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited commissioned a 37-megawatt solar photovoltaic power facility in Kothagudem in the coal region today, bringing the company’s total solar installations to 200 megawatts.

The solar plants were inaugurated by Singareni Collieries’ N. Balaram and D. Satyanarayana Rao.

This is part of a proposal by Singareni’s state-owned coal mining firm to build 13 plants with a total installed capacity of 300 megawatts across eight coal-mining zones.

The construction of these plants will be done in three stages. BHEL was awarded a contract to create solar power plants in four sites totaling 129 MW in the first phase.

The contract was awarded to Adani Construction Company to build four plants with a total capacity of 90 MW in three areas. A total of 37 MW has been completed at Kothagudem, 28 MW at Mandamarri-A block, 15 MW at Mandamarri-B block, and 10 MW at Bhupalapalli. The total solar installed capacity now stands at 209 MW, surpassing the 200 MW threshold for the first time.

Solar plants connected to the grid have generated 122.3 million units of solar power, which is being provided in the Singareni districts as of September 21. Singareni has saved a total of 75 crores as a result of this.

Singareni aims to save 120 crores per year after the entire 300 MW power generating is installed.

Adani and Novas Group have been given the task of constructing an 81 MW solar power plant, which is expected to be finished by the end of the year.

The Novas firm has already begun construction on a 15 MW floating power plant on the Singareni thermal power station’s reservoir.

The Adani group is building a 22-megawatt plant on the RG-3 open cast dump, a 10-megawatt plant on the Dorli open cast dump, and a 34-megawatt plant at Kothagudem&Chennuru.
