Leading public sector units (PSUs) and private entities have expressed interest in signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the Rajasthan government to build solar energy plants. The government is expected to sign MoUs (Memorandums of Understanding) or LoIs (Letters of Intent) for Rs 3.05 lakh crore under the ‘Invest Rajasthan’ campaign, according to sources.
Five PSUs, including NTPC, NHPC, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, Tehri Hydel Development Corporation India Ltd., Solar Energy Corporation of India, and private firms such as Reliance, Axis, and SAEL, will sign MOUs/LOIs. The estimated investment is Rs 3.05 lakh crore, which includes renewable energy projects with a capacity of 92.1 GW and solar module manufacturing with a capacity of 4 GW.
Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Pvt Ltd, the state’s main department for investment promotion, would work with potential investors. Domestic and international investor connect programs have been held by the industries department in the last few months as part of the ‘Invest Rajasthan’ campaign. The state signed 323 Memorandums of Understanding and Letters of Intent for Rs. 5.73 lakh crore. At district summits, 3,272 MoUs and LoIs worth Rs. 1.33 lakh crore were signed. Due to the Covid issue, the Invest Rajasthan Summit, which was slated for January 24-25, 2022 at JECC, Sitapura, has been postponed. The industries department is now concentrating on putting the promised investments into action.
