Haryana has announced a bold clean-energy drive, targeting the installation of 2.2 lakh rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by the end of FY 2026–27. In tandem, the state plans to solarise 4,523 government buildings, with a collective potential of 122 MW, by December 31—achieved without relying on central financial support.
To make solar adoption viable for households across income groups, Haryana has introduced dual subsidies: centralized financial assistance (CFA), credited within 15 days of approval, and state aid (SFA) for 1 lakh Antyodaya families on a first-come-first-served basis. The state has already completed more than 30,600 rooftop installations, while DISCOMs roll out booster schemes and training to accelerate uptake.
The state has also launched an innovative Model Solar Village initiative, aiming to develop one solar-powered village per district. The first, Balu village in Kaithal, is already underway. These Model Solar Villages will feature solar streetlights, lighting systems, and pumps, transforming them into 24×7 green-energy hubs, supported by an integrated online portal and grievance-resolution system.
