Madhya Pradesh has taken a significant step towards becoming one of India’s leading renewable energy hubs with the inauguration of 950 MW of utility-scale solar capacity across two major solar parks. On 30 June 2026, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, along with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and State New & Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla, inaugurated the 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and the 450 MW Shajapur Solar Park. Developed under the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) framework, the projects represent a combined investment of approximately ₹2,080 crore and substantially strengthen the state’s clean energy infrastructure.
The newly commissioned solar parks are expected to supply clean electricity to the national grid, supporting India’s ambitious renewable energy targets while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The event also marked another milestone with the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the 440 MW Morena Solar-Plus-Storage Project, one of India’s most competitively bid hybrid renewable energy projects and Madhya Pradesh’s first solar project integrated with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The hybrid facility will provide reliable power even during non-solar hours, improving grid stability and ensuring round-the-clock renewable energy availability.
While detailed photovoltaic module specifications and annual generation figures for the newly inaugurated parks have not yet been officially released, the projects are designed as large-scale utility-grade solar installations with modern high-efficiency photovoltaic technology. The addition of battery energy storage at Morena reflects the industry’s shift toward dispatchable renewable power, enabling excess daytime solar generation to be stored and delivered during evening peak demand. This approach aligns with India’s growing emphasis on integrating energy storage alongside renewable capacity to support a more resilient power grid.
With the commissioning of these landmark projects, Madhya Pradesh continues to reinforce its position as a major destination for clean energy investments. The combination of large-scale solar parks and advanced energy storage infrastructure demonstrates the state’s commitment to supporting India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, while creating a stronger foundation for sustainable economic growth and long-term energy security.
