National Hydrogen Energy Mission
Due to the ever-increasing use of natural resources, these are becoming less frequent. If this goes on like this then those days are not far when these resources will end. In such a situation, time is needed as a good alternative to renewable energy. The importance of hydrogen energy is increasing with each passing day.
The more clean and renewable energy currently would adopt, will prove to help move India closer to development and sustainability. In the budget year 2021, the focus is on renewable energy. During the budget presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced renewable energy initiatives.
She also stressed this mission and said that the National Hydrogen Energy Mission has been established in 2021-22 to generate hydrogen from green power sources. This mission was first discussed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Third Re-inVest Conference in November 2020.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while discussing this,
“To further promote the non-conventional energy sector, I propose to provide additional capital of Rs 1,000 crore to Solar Energy Corporation of India and Rs 1,500 crore to the Renewable Energy Development Agency of India.”
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman divided the scheme into two parts, in the first part she explained how the “National Hydrogen Energy Mission” will bring big objectives for a bright future and make them successful. In the second part, she talked about the manufacturing and storage plans of solar cells and solar panels.
The Hydrogen Energy Mission will create clean and green power through hydrogen, which will be completely pollution-free. Green hydrogen plants will be made for this, Which will operate on green energy resources. This hydrogen energy will not only be used industrially but also in every place where energy is used.
Many stakeholders like Reliance, Tata, Mahindra, Indian Oil and Stakeholder Hydrogen Council, European Hydrogen Coalition, etc. have also contributed to making this scheme successful.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman added in the budget speech, “To increase domestic manufacturing capacity, we have come up with phased manufacturing plans for solar panels and solar cells. Currently, import duty on a solar inverter has been increased from 5% to 20% to give a boost to domestic production.”
Benefits of National Hydrogen Energy Mission:
The objective of the National Hydrogen Energy Scheme is to reduce petrol consumption, greenhouse emission, air pollution and contribute towards a more efficient energy infrastructure. If you look at it financially, it will prove to be very cheap energy.
This scheme is also beneficial for DISCOM companies. And will increase the income resources such that energy-friendly resources (vehicles, electrical appliances) will have to be made, which will increase the number of jobs, etc.
