As of June 30, 2023, India has a cumulative solar capacity of 55,902 MW are currently under implementation in 18 states across the country. Moreover, there are plans to set up two additional solar projects with a total capacity of 5.4 GW, although the exact locations have not been decided yet.
The Minister of New and Renewable Energy, R.K Singh, shared this information during a session in Lok Sabha. He also revealed that approximately 80 percent of the ongoing large-scale solar projects are concentrated in just five states known for their abundant renewable energy resources.
All of these projects will be commissioned between August 2023 and November 2026.
R.K. Singh, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy, highlighted that the majority of these projects are undertaken by private companies through a transparent bidding process, allowing developers to choose suitable locations for these renewable ventures.
