From January to November 2021, India added roughly 11.1 GW of solar capacity. According to JMK Research, this is a 249 percent increase over the installations completed in 2020.
According to data given by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India’s total renewable energy installation capacity reached 104 GW by November 2021. Solar energy presently accounts for over 47% of the total RE market, making it the greatest contributor, followed by wind energy (38%), biopower (10%), and small hydro (5%).
According to the research, about 7 GW of utility-scale solar was added between January and November 2021. Rajasthan added the most utility-scale solar power, around 3,615 MW, followed by Gujarat (1,538 MW) and Uttar Pradesh (1,538 MW), respectively (674 MW).
Between January and November 2021, around 2605 MW of rooftop solar capacity was added. Gujarat leads the states with 660 MW of capacity additions, accounting for over a quarter of all rooftop installations during the study period.
