Leading solar panel manufacturer Canadian Solar is establishing a manufacturing facility in Mesquite, Texas. This new unit will be the organization’s first production facility in the United States.
The unit will produce approximately 20,000 high-power modules every day, which amounts to an annual production capacity of 5GW. Moreover, the company has invested over $250 million in the project.
The production is expected to begin by late 2023. Once completed, the project will create close to 1,500 jobs.
“Establishing this factory is a key milestone that will enable us to better serve our U.S. customers with the most advanced technology in the industry,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, founder, and CEO of Canadian Solar.
Canadian Solar has manufacturing units in Canada, China, Brazil, Thailand, and Vietnam. The company manufactures advanced modules with some of the highest efficiencies in the industry. In the past two decades, Canadian Solar has successfully delivered around 94 GW capacity in modules across the world.
