Haryana has officially crossed the 2 GW solar capacity mark as of July 2025, contributing to a total installed and contracted renewable capacity of 6,264 MW, or nearly 38.6% of the state’s generation portfolio.
(Weekly solar plant additions include a 10 MW Panipat plant, over 448 MW in ground-mounted projects, and 13 solar parks sanctioned.)
Energy Minister Anil Vij highlighted that the state has also solarized government schools and hospitals, deployed more than 1.65 lakh solar irrigation pumps under PM-KUSUM, and designated Panchkula as a “Model Solar City.”
Inspired by the Philippines’ highly decentralised energy model—where local power generation on islands ensures energy security—Haryana is studying similar microgrid and village-level generation systems.
The Philippines delegation detailed practices involving smart micro-grids, digitised utility networks, and round-the-clock green energy access, which Haryana hopes to adapt in its rural electrification and renewable village programs.
Analysts believe Haryana’s robust solar expansion, combined with decentralized energy planning, positions the state as a leader in India’s renewable transition. With its push toward solar irrigation, industrial rooftop solar, and government building solarization,
Haryana is aiming for energy self-reliance and greater resilience—especially in rural communities. The exchange with international partners underscores the state’s willingness to innovate and adopt best practices for sustainable growth.
