Africa50 and the International Solar Alliance (ISA) have agreed to work together to support and fund solar projects in Africa. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the same, at Africa50’s Infra for Africa Forum and General Shareholders Meeting in Lomé, Togo.
Africa50 is an investment platform that works with African governments and sponsors to develop large infrastructural projects with a developmental impact. The organization recently invested in the Benban Solar Plant, which is the largest in Africa.
International Solar Alliance is an intergovernmental body, launched under the Indian and French leadership. With a mission to promote clean energy, ISA aids in deploying solar technologies across its member countries.
“Clean energy and a sustainable transition are core pillars of Africa50’s investment strategy. ISA and its network represent a wealth of knowledge and connectivity in the solar space that the African continent can benefit from” said Alain Ebobissé, Chief Executive Officer of Africa50.
Mr. Ajay Mathur states that the collaboration will power many households in Toga and the African continent with clean and affordable energy. To achieve this goal, the two organizations will leverage each other’s network to mobilize funds for solar projects.
He also adds that another focus of the project is to raise public awareness and build capacity.
