The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has issued a new request for selection (RfS) to procure 500 MW of solar power from grid-connected photovoltaic projects located anywhere within the state. The tender, floated on December 26, 2025, invites bids for capacities between 50 MW and 250 MW per bidder, with the bid submission deadline set for February 4, 2026 and bid opening on February 6.
Bidders must meet stringent eligibility criteria, including a minimum net worth of ₹10 million per MW, specific turnover and liquidity requirements, and must furnish an earnest money deposit and performance bank guarantee. Developers are responsible for land acquisition or leasing, statutory approvals, and grid connectivity, with power delivery and metering at designated 220 kV, 400 kV, and 66 kV substations operated by PSPCL or the Punjab State Transmission Corporation.
The tender mandates sourcing solar modules from the MNRE Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), ensuring quality and performance standards. To qualify, projects must achieve a minimum declared Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) of 19% and an annual CUF of at least 17% — key performance benchmarks for utility-scale solar power generation.
This 500 MW solar power tender reflects Punjab’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint and reducing dependence on conventional generation, even as the state continues efforts to grow its overall solar capacity through innovative initiatives like canal-top solar installations. OrnateSolar stands ready to support solar developers and investors with high-efficiency solar modules, inverters, and project consultancy tailored to the tender’s technical and compliance requirements.
