The state-owned THDC India Ltd (Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited) has agreed to invest Rs 10,000 crore in Rajasthan to create solar power facilities with a capacity of 10,000 megawatts (MW).
“THDC India Limited (THDCIL) signed the letter of intent (LoI) of 10,000 MW in Rajasthan with an estimated investment of Rs 40,000 crore for the establishment of renewable energy parks/ projects of 10,000 MW in the presence of the chief minister, Rajasthan, and the Minister for Industry, Revenue, and Energy, Government of Rajasthan,” company stated.
With THDC India Ltd’s stated intention to invest in the energy sector, it is projected that over 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities will be produced during the peak construction period, boosting the local economy.
The project will be phased into service between the third and fifth years. These mega-projects by THDCIL and RRECL will boost the socio-economic development of the project areas while also bringing in low-cost solar energy to the region. This will also help to meet the goal of adding 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Rajeev Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDCIL, spoke during the ceremony via video conference.
