UP government is organizing ‘Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan’ in Lucknow and Varanasi to promote solar adoption in the state. The campaign launched on 2nd October will be in effect for the entire month.
The state government, through the initiative, aims to increase solar capacity and meet the 6 GW solar target as outlined in UP’s Solar Energy Policy 2022.
Under the Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan, the UP government will organize camps across the states. Officials will provide comprehensive information about the installation of rooftop solar plants, the application process, and the net metering facility to people.
UPNEDA Director Anupam Shukla has said that the first boot camp under the campaign will be organised at Vikas Bhawan in Lucknow and near the Municipal Corporation office in Varanasi. Apart from residential and commercial consumers, it will be attended by concerned officers and employees from various departments.
Uttar Pradesh is making steady strides to increase its solar energy capacity and transition to clean energy. The state has a separate solar subsidy for residential consumers in addition to the CFA provided by the state to increase rooftop solar adoption.
UP is also developing 18 cities as solar cities, which include Lucknow Varanasi, and Ayodhya. Moreover, the state government recently announced plans to solarize the entire 296km stretch of Bundelkhand Expressway.
