Solar Energy: Analysis Of Basic Concept

The population of India is increasing day-by-day and with that, the energy demand is also increasing. Indian society is moving towards a smart society, we are using smart appliances more than ever. All these are adding up in the energy demand.
We have reached a point where the traditional methods of power generation are more harmful than useful.

Today we have reached a stage where pollution has crossed all the threshold levels. Millions of life on earth are now fighting for survival because of this pollution. In this situation, solar energy has come with the assurance that along with the supply of electricity, the quality of the life can be improved.

So, what is this solar energy, and how it works?

Solar Energy

The process of converting sunlight into electricity is called solar energy. The solar solution requires to generate electricity from sunlight and mainly consists of four to five components:

Solar Panels

Inverter

Solar Charge Controller

Solar Battery

Wire, Combiner Box, etc.

Now let’s understand the solar energy sector.

According to the value chain, we can divide the solar industry into three parts.

  1. Manufacturers
  2. Developers
  3. Consumers

Solar consumers usually divide into three types.

  1. Residential
  2. Commercial
  3. Community

In terms of technology, the entire solar industry can be divide into three ways.

  1. Off-grid
  2. On-grid
  3. Hybrid

In an off-grid system

the consumer generates all the electricity they need through the solar system. The power produced from the solar panel is the first stored in the solar battery and via the inverter, it’s converted into AC, and then it’s used.

Once the off-grid solar solution installed, the consumer now free from the local power grid and becomes energy independent.

Off Grid Solar System

In an on-grid system

the consumer installs solar panels at their place as per the power requirements. The power generates via the inverter and the smart meter goes to the local power grid. The consumer gets the power supply via the normal grid connection. The bill generates after the analysis of power exported to the grid and imported from the grid. This analysis does by the smart meter.

The inverter used in the on-grid solar solution does not have the power backup or cannot be connected to the battery.

On Grid Solar System

Hybrid solar systems

have a mixture of both off-grid and on-grid. Connections from both the battery and the grid are available.

Hybrid Solar System

By now people have heard that solar is the future but we believe that we have now come to a place where the solar is not the future but the present. Because the future can only happen when the present could be saved & for this, more and more people will have to adopt solar. This was all the primary and necessary information about solar energy. In the future blog, we will learn about the other specifications of solar solutions.
