Highlights:

  • Andhra Pradesh CM laid the foundation for 3 RE projects worth ₹25,850 crore on Wednesday, 24th August
  • The projects will employ solar energy, wind power, and pumped storage and generate employment for over 5300 people.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohon Reddy, laid the foundation for three renewable energy projects in the Nandyala district on Wednesday, 24th August. The projects, which would require an investment of ₹25,850 crore would produce approximately 5,314 MW of clean energy.

These solar, wind, and pumped energy storage projects are expected to create employment for around 5,300 people.

The first project is a 2300 MW solar power project being developed at Junuthala village in Owk Mandal. The project will be established by Greenko Energies, at an investment of ₹10,350 crore. It is expected to create job opportunities for over 2000 people.

CM Reddy also laid the foundation for another 1,014 MW renewable energy project at Kandikayapalle village in Panyam mandal. This will include a 700 MW solar power plant and a 314 MW wind energy plant. The total cost of this project is around ₹4,500 crore and, it is expected to employ about 1000 people.

The third project is a 2000 MW power plant, which includes a 1000 MW solar project and a 1000 MW wind plant. It will be developed by Ecoren Energy, at Muddavaram village in Bethamcherla mandal at an investment of ₹11,000 crore.

“We are taking every step to put Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of green energy. Today, we are generating 9,000 MW of power from solar and wind sources,” said Reddy

Apart from these, the state government has also signed an agreement with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to develop pumped storage projects with a total capacity of 2000 MW.

Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh has made preparations to acquire over 7 GW of solar energy from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to provide farmers with 9 hours of free daytime power. These endeavors represent significant steps towards the state’s transition to clean, sustainable energy sources.
