Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam (AVVNL) is planning to develop 82.94 MW of grid-connected solar projects under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM-KUSUM) program. The initiative aims to solarize feeders in agricultural areas.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹3.5 crore. It will be developed in the RESCO model where a third-party developer will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and running the plants. Moreover, the developer will sell the solar energy at an approved tariff.
AVVNL has invited bids for the project, and the last date for submission of the same is June 27, 2023.
The selected bidder will sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam for 25 years, at the levelized tariff approved by the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission. The bidder will also be eligible for up to 30% incentive under the Central Finance Assistance (CFA).
The solar plants will be located in Nagaur, Sikar, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, and Rajsamand circles in Rajasthan. Further, only modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) will be used for the project.
Rajasthan is the top solar state of India with an installed capacity of over 16 GW. The state government has been implementing favorable policies to encourage the adoption of solar energy and utilizing the abundant desert heat within the state. In fact, in February of this year, the central government recognized and approved 9 solar park projects in the state, which collectively have a capacity exceeding 7 GW!
