State owned utility giant, SJVN, has bagged a 100 MW solar power project under an e-reverse auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL). The estimated cost of the project is ₹550 crores.
The ground-mounted solar project would be developed on a Build, Own, and Operate basis by SJVN’s subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Ltd. (SGEL). The agreed tariff for the solar plant is ₹2.63/unit. The company has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of 25 years with the GUVNL for the same.
The 100 MW solar plant is expected to generate 252 million units of clean energy in the first year of commissioning and a total of 5,866 million units in the subsequent years. Once commissioned, the plant will prevent approximately 2,87,434 tonnes of carbon emissions.
SGEL has set a deadline of 18 months for the project.
In May 2023, SJVN had bagged another 200 MW solar project in Gujarat. The company has also inked a pact to supply 1200 MW of solar power to the state of Punjab.
With the addition of this solar plant, SJVN’s solar and wind portfolio has reached 5,090.5 MW. Out of this, 179.5 MW is under operation, 1,860 MW is under construction and 3,051 MW is under implementation. The organization has set a target of developing 12 GW of solar and wind capacity by 2026 and expanding it to 25 GW by 2030 and 50 GW by 2040.
