This is a major step of the Andhra Pradesh government in the direction of renewable energy. It has been approved to set up a 6,400 MW solar power project due to which farmers will get 9 hours of electricity every day.

Mr. B Srinivas Reddy, the Power Minister of Andhra Pradesh, said, “This low tariff of Rs. 2.48 would result in savings of nearly Rs. 3,800 crore in the very first year and is likely to increase over the years, considering the fact the present tariff of Rs 2.48 for the energy from the 6,400 MW solar power project would remain constant over the next 30 years, whereas the cost associated with power from some of the other sources is likely to go up,”

further, he added, “At the time of transfer, the plant would be operating at 18 percent CUF ensuring a plentiful supply of power at very low cost,”

“This will save Rs 3,800 crore in the first year alone, over 30 years the modest expectation when it comes to savings is 50,000 crore,” he said.

Tenders have been filed by big players like NTPC, Adani Group, and Torrent Power for the development of this project.
