Solar System Installation, And Maintenance:

The output of a solar power plant depends on its installation & the maintenance done from time to time by the consumer. If the solar solution is installed in the wrong direction or in a shady area, it will be generating electricity at a very low rate.

Lets’ understand the correct way to install a solar power system :

1) Designing of The Solar System: Designing the solar solution is one of the significant factors in the entire process. Because solar modules are converting solar energy into electricity, so if panels are mismatched or installed in a shady area or wrong array or angle, otherwise, the solution will not be producing the proper output.



In a specific plant it is preferable that all the solar modules should be of the same type and not mismatched ; like monocrystalline, polycrystalline.


The solar panel installation should not be done in a shady place or in the area where large objects are in its proximity whose shadow prevents the sunlight from falling directly on the panels as it effects the output of the modules.


The solar panel installation should be done in the correct array. The array/modules should face south in principle and tilt at the latitude angle. In case of high wind intensity at sites, a lower tilt angle in the range of 5-20 degrees should use to reduce the wind loading. Any other array tilt angle used will be the wrong tilt angle and will lead to decrease electricity output.


Solar panel installation should not be done at any unsafe place like overhanging the edge of the rooftop. There should be enough space left for engineers to carry out operations and maintenance-related work. Apart from this, if there is no space between panels, the heavy winds could easily rip them from the roof.

2). Solar System Installation & Balancing: Solar system installation is another significant factor for getting proper output from the solar solution. Solar modules are very delicate, so it is significant to keep the balancing factor of the system in mind during solar system installation. Let’s understand it with the help of the below-given point:


The module should be installed in a neat & tidy manner so that the positioning of solar modules is getting proper space.


An ideal strong structure is where one sqm can support 25-30kgs of the weight of solar panels and mounting structures. An older mounting structure reduces the holding capacity of the solar panels for the building.


The mounting structure should install in the correct position. The legs of the mounting structure should not be vertical to the panels. It leads to reduced structural strength. For maximum structural strength, the mounting structure’s legs are approximately right angles to the solar panels.


There is no rusting and corrosion over the mounting structure, so check it properly to make sure about it. Array frame must select correctly, and material must be corrosion-free.


There are no loose connections left during the installation of mounting structures and solar modules.


The installed quality of the racking will ensure that the panels installed will last for the next twenty years or blow away in the next storm.

3). Selection & Placement of The Inverters for the Solar Solution:


For long-term use, solar inverters should not be exposed to direct sunlight. For outdoor installations, use the existing shadow or roof over the inverters.


Inverter display should be proper with all details. So that the consumers can get the required data easily. This makes it analyze and solve any error or issue.

4). Wire and Cabling Connections


The cables should route properly and fasten with clamps to avoid damages. Many times we notice that cables are not routed capitally, and the wires are left hanging. This may cause damage to cables due to rodents, squirrels, and other pests or can cause a hazard when people walk around the terrace.


A loose connection may lead to a fire hazard and tight ones to breakage. Wiring loops should be proper.


Cable insulation should be proper so that there is no chance of an electrical failure.


Conduits of the cables are fully closed so that there is no space to enter unwanted elements like water, insects, etc.


Cables should be properly labeled so that it is easy to identify the connection.

5) Protection Device:


The device should have the proper electrical grounding so there is no voltage failure in the solar solution & the system should be prevented from electrical failure.


The solar solution should have better lightning protection with an additional array grounding electrode conductor connected directly from the PV modules to a ground rod. With this lightning arrangement, the risk of lightning damage is reduced.

6) Maintenance:

The consumer should clean the solar module regularly. It increases the efficiency of the solar modules. Even Washing Your Panels Once a Year Can Improve Efficiency.


Physical Integrity is a significant factor for the performance of the solution. If any module is having any issues, like moisture, condensation, cracks, corrosion, delamination, etc. it needs to be replaced as soon as possible.


Solar panels must be hotspot-free. Hotspots occur when a string of several high short circuit current solar cells contains one low current solar cell. In series-connected solar cells, a bypass diode is using. It helps to avoid the destructive effect of hotspots or local heat.


The solar solution installers must be following the right practices during solar system installation work like using safety helmets, face-shield, safety gloves, etc.
