Solar Subsidy in Telangana
Residential consumers from the state can avail the Central Financial Assistance provided by MNRE directly from the National Portal for Rooftop Solar. The subsidy details are as follows:

Solar Potential
Telangana ranks 2nd in India in terms of solar power capacity per unit area of land. As of early 2025, the state has a cumulative installed solar capacity of around 5,415 MW, including utility-scale and rooftop installations. The government plans to add approximately 2,474 MW of clean energy capacity over the next 4–5 years.
Since solar as a resource is so abundantly available in Telangana, the state government is striving to promote its adoption among the population. The largest floating solar plant of 100 MW is located in Ramagundam, Telangana.
In 2022, the state government announced plans to solarize 1,521 government-run schools under the ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ program. So far, over 500 schools have been equipped with rooftop solar systems.
Moreover, Telangana is investing in innovative solar models, including as floating solar and Agrivoltaics systems, to optimize energy generation and land use efficiency.

As part of its renewable energy policy, the state government has introduced the following measures:
Promote Residential Solar
- Tariff applicable for units generated under Gross Metering at 11 kV and below would be the average cost of service of the DISCOM as determined by TSERC.
- No Distribution losses and charges, Electricity duty, Cross subsidy surcharge
- Subsidy Applicable as per SECI guidelines
- Loan for solar as a part of a home loan/home improvement loan
- Loans up to Rs. 10 lacs are available for individuals under Priority sector lending.
Promote Industrial Solar
- No Distribution losses and charges, Electricity duty, Cross subsidy surcharge.
- 40% Accelerated Depreciation
- 10-year Tax holiday on solar projects
- Loans are available for up to Rs.15 Crore for renewable energy projects under priority sector lending.
Opportunity for Solar Developers in Telangana
