EoI is Being Sought for the Development of 120 MW of Solar Projects Along Maharashtra’s Prosperity Corridor

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) has issued a request for proposals to develop 120 megawatts of solar power on land accessible along the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg (HHBTMSM), which spans 701 kilometers. Expressions of interest must be received by February 17, 2022.

Prospective engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies, captive and utility-scale solar project developers interested in developing solar power projects on the provided project lands are asked to submit an Expression of Interest.

The HHBTMSM, or Nagpur Mumbai Super Communication Expressway, commonly known as the “Maharashtra Prosperity Corridor,” is Maharashtra’s showpiece green-field project, connecting ten districts directly to Mumbai and fourteen others via a feeder network.

MSRDC has examined roughly 138 MW of solar capacity at seven interchanges along the HHBTMSM as a green endeavor. Its special purpose entity Mahasamruddhi Renewable Energy Limited is developing a 5 MW solar project in Bhilkheda village in the Washim district. Mahasamruddhi Renewable Energy Limited published engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender earlier this month for the development of a 5 MW(AC) project in Bhilkheda, Washim district.

MSRDC is also planning to build a 4 MW solar power plant in Mahekar village, Buldhana district. On the lands to be made available on a long-term lease of 27 years, the business aims to offer the remaining assessed capacity to prospective developers. According to MSRDC’s extensive survey, there is potential for roughly 120 MW of solar projects to be built in six different places. MSRDC has previously launched a consultant servicing tender to analyze the possibilities for establishing 150-200 MW of solar projects along the Nagpur-Mumbai Superhighway, as Mercom had previously reported.

A 22.47 MW solar plant could be built in Viral, Nagpur, according to the business. Around 81 acres of land in Dhamangaon village, Amravati district, would be selected for an 18 MW solar project, and 88 acres in Talegaon village will be picked for a 24.5 MW solar project. The company plans to build 26 MW solar projects at Malegoan and 11 MW solar projects at Karanja Lad in the Washim region. It would allocate 70 acres of land in the Buldhana district’s Mehkar village. The lease rent for the land offered for solar project development will be solicited separately by MSRDC, and no financial bid will be required as part of the EoI application.
