What if you could replace the metal roofing of your industrial unit and install a solar panel roof instead? How would that work? Would it even be worth the investment?

India’s leading water management expert, Ashirvad Pipes, in collaboration with Ornate InRoof, has shown that it is not only possible but also an efficient way to monetize available space.

InRoof: A Breakthrough Solution

In India, the majority of industrial facilities typically have either asbestos or metal roofing. When a business chooses to switch to solar power, the common approach is to install solar panels onto the current roof structure. However, this method has its limitations.

Metal roofs are prone to leakage, rust, and overheating, which can affect the generation of your PV system. Moreover, if the roof is old and has structural issues, one might have to replace it before installation.

The solution?

Replace the old metal roof with a sustainable solar InRoof solution that integrates solar panels into the roof itself, just as the world’s largest uPVC pipe company Ashirvad Pipes did.

Replacing 6630 sq. ft. of asbestos roofs of their production facility in Karnataka, Ashirvad Pipes opted for a 91kW solar InRoof.

Overcoming the Installation Challenges

In a bid to switch to green energy, Ashirvad Pipes wanted to install solar panels over their Bengaluru factory roof. But, there were challenges.

The facility was not equipped to handle the weight of the solar panels. Moreover, replacing the roofing could be time-consuming and the business did not wish to cease operations. With a mind to solve these problems, Ashirvad Pipes, a company that has prioritized innovation turned to the cutting-edge technology of Ornate InRoof.

Ashrid Pipe

Before deploying the InRoof, Ornate Solar’s team of engineers reinforced the structure with additional bracing. Further, despite Bengaluru’s unpredictable weather conditions, the installation was completed in 30 days without disrupting the factory operations below.

Moreover, for extra security and to meet the global safety requirements of Ashirvad Pipes, a safety net and fall arrest system was installed at a height of 10 metres (33 ft.).

The components of InRoof are designed with galvalume coating to make them fully weather resistant.

Benefits of InRoof Over Conventional Roofing

Designed, engineered, and manufactured by Ornate Solar’s in-house team, one-of-its-kind Ornate InRoof provides multiple benefits.

  • Weather- resistant coating makes the panels fully water and rust proof
  • By directly installing a solar InRoof, individuals can save the cost of roofing and mounting structures. This makes InRoof more cost-effective.
  • InRoof transforms an under-utilized space into a clean energy generating roof that can significantly reduce electricity costs.
  • A unique snap-lock feature makes InRoof easy and quick to deploy
  • Accommodates up to 26% more panels than conventional power systems.
  • By eliminating the need for sheet roofing and leaving space for free air circulation, InRoof reduces back sheet temperature by 15℃ and raises panel generation by approximately 10 percent.
  • Unlike sheet roofing, InRoof looks aesthetically pleasing and can be fully customized to suit all roof types, styles, and designs.
The Result
Ashrid Pipes

The InRoof system installed in Karnataka, uses 200 high-efficiency Canadian Solar Mono-PERC modules with dual-cell technology, with each panel equipped with the latest generation of IQ7A Microinverters from Enphase Energy.

The PV system is expected to generate 1, 50,000 units of energy annually, resulting in an estimated savings of ₹10.5 lakhs for Ashirvad Pipes. Further, the system will prevent 2875 tons of C02 emissions by generating clean energy.
