State-owned power generating company NTPC announced the commercial operation of its Devikot solar projects on Tuesday, 13th December 2022.
“Consequent upon successful commissioning, entire capacities of 150 MW & 90 MW Devikot Solar PV Projects at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, are declared on commercial operation with effect from 00:00 Hours of December 13, 2022,” a BSE filing stated.
The 150MW Devikot- I and 90MW Devikot-II projects were developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme Phase-II of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The ground-mounted solar projects was developed under EPC mode, using domestic modules and cells.
With the addition of the Devikot solar plants, the standalone commercial and installed capacity of NTPC has become 58,041.27 MW and the group installed and commercial capacity of NTPC has become 70,656.27 MW.
NTPC is the largest power-producing company in India, which supplies one-fourth of the nation’s electricity. By adding 1074.5MW of renewable energy capacity in FY2023, the company has crossed the 1 GW annual renewable energy capacity mark.
NTPC recently commissioned a part of 20MW Gandhar solar project and the 56MW Kawas solar project in Gujarat along with India’s second largest floating solar project of 92MW capacity in Kerala. The company is targeting 60GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
