The Uttar Pradesh government is looking to turn the arid region of Bundelkhand into a clean energy hub. The state has announced 10 new solar power projects with a cumulative capacity of 3 GW in the region.
Solar plants will be set up in Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, and Mahoba districts of Bundelkhand, with three projects being set up in Jhansi alone. Some of the projects include:

These projects together will create employment opportunities for more than 4000 people in the region.
Apart from these, the state government has also launched several developmental and infrastructure projects in the Bundelkhand region to attract private investment.
The Uttar Pradesh government aims to meet 40% of its energy demand through solar and other alternate clean energy sources in the coming years. In January 2024, the state announced plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore in 125 clean energy projects. Moreover, UP is also developing the Bundelkhand expressway as the state’s first solar-powered expressway.
